Thankfully, the coconut flavor is a bit muted due to…whatever it is keeping it muted. Shame on me for not reading the label correctly, eh? Immediately, I was unhappy by this surprise. Eventually, I started to taste that earth and ever so consistent punch of coconut. I noticed something was a little off since it wasn’t as acidic as I might have felt a pineapple soda should be. Eventually, the flavor transformed into more of a citric pineapple flavor. When I recorded the video, I missed the little blurb about this being a coconut and pineapple soda so when I tasted the coconut in the end part of the flavor, I was slightly put off!Īt first, it was mostly just sugary sweet as soda typically is. I was hoping the taste went hand in hand with the smell. This is exactly what I was hoping for with this flavor in terms of smell. It was fake, candy-like pineapple granted, but it smelled nice. The smell was quite pineapple-like unsurprisingly. No pineapple or coconut extract for flavor, so this taste comes strictly from the natural and artificial flavoring. Health people will say it is pretty bad for you. It is almost 2 days worth actually! Again, not too surprising since it is a soda. If you’re lucky, you might get like up to 5%. I think Bai has a Pina Colada flavor with their waters or whatever and that was around for a while.Īnyway, I took a picture of the nutrition facts and ingredients so I don’t have to write it here! Take a look!Ġ% juice is quite typical for a soda so I’m not too bothered by that. I wonder if that’s to avoid some sort of family group thing that will cry foul to politicians? Probably not. That said, Mountain Dew didn’t describe it as “Pina Colada.” No. It’s also fairly popular, right? You know, I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who is like “Oh yeah! Pina Colada! I love it!” or “Let’s go get some Pina Coladas after work on Friday.” I feel like it was only popular because of that crappy song. Instead, Mountain Dew goes for more of a Pina Colada approach here. Looking further on the label, you can see that Mountain Dew took the liberty of describing the flavor as “Dew with a blast of natural & artificial Pineapple Coconut flavor.” The shading kind of gives me Borderlands vibes. You can see the fruit used for this specific flavor on the label as well with a very comic-like artistic rendition of a pineapple. The label continues on with the whole “Baja” theme of island life or surfing or whatever. It also has the air of Summer which is perfect for this, what I’m assuming, seasonal drink. That appeals to me since I quite like other pineapple sodas. What is Baja Flash? Well, judging from the label, it is some sort of Pineapple flavor of Mountain Dew. This year, Mountain Dew got their usual bright idea and tried to capitalize on the popularity of Baja Blast and released two other “Baja” flavors. I’m not sure if that’s an official thing, but the trend seems to be like that. You can get it year round at Taco Bell, but if Taco Bell’s food gives you terrible stomach aches like it does to me, you can mostly look forward to Baja Blast during the summer when it is released in stores. Mountain Dew has a super popular flavor in Baja Blast. This flavor is Mountain Dew’s Baja Flash! So, you will see two more written posts in addition to this one! I do miss writing about drinks sometimes. Instead of me “faking” a reaction, I thought I might as well write it here. What happened was in the middle of recording the video for this flavor, my phone stopped recording and I only noticed at the end.
